I’ve not updated in a while, and I feel that I should post something. I had gotten into the habit of daily posting (at least on weekdays), but have been so busy this last week that I’m afraid my blogging has suffered! I don’t have a great deal to report in my personal life – often parenthood consists of the same daily and weekly routines. Katie continues to be an endless source of amusement and I really look forward to our family weekends. Although no-one ever admits it the first year or so of parenting is damn hard. While I’m sure there are plenty of trials ahead I’m more than content to just enjoy my wife and daughter while the weather is good and there are no immediate problems on the horizon.
At work we’re in the process of rolling out a new website for one of our larger brands, and the whole process is pretty involved. I’ve also had to have a colleague shadowing me, as many of the duties I perform during these roll-outs are being passed across so that I can focus more on the custom analytics work that our ecommerce department is prioritising over my other duties. To be honest this makes a good deal of sense – the roll-out tasks, although many and relatively involved, consist of basically working through a checklist. Although administrator-level access is required to our live server cluster in order complete the process, anybody with that level of responsibility is able to undertake the roll-out. The analytics work however, can only be done by myself. Although this handover process means a greater level of work initially it will ultimately free me up to focus on the analytics, SEO and conversion aspects of the websites, which can only be a good thing!
